The Department of Foreign Affairs on Thursday reported six new confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases and four new recoveries among Filipinos around Asia and the Pacific as with Europe in the past three days with no new fatalities.

To date, the total number of COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos is 10,041, 6,080 of which have since recovered, while 3,219 are still undergoing treatment.
There were no new updates from the Americas and the Middle East.
In all, 742 Filipinos from around the globe have died due to coronavirus infections.
The foreign affairs office assured the public of its efforts in attending to the needs of Filipinos abroad including facilitating requests for repatriation, whenever possible.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. expressed support for the lifting of the ban on deployment on Filipino nurses abroad amid government restrictions.
In an interview on Wednesday, Locsin admitted he differed from that of President Duterte and of other DFA personnel declaring nurses a “reserve force.”
“My answer to that is, really? Reserve forces—if you want to use war-time analogies—are usually paid and they’re paid well. We’re not paying anything. We’re just asking them to stay here while their families starve,” the DFA chief said.
