The Department of Health (DOH) said that the country's COVID-19 cases increased to more than 241,000 on Tuesday, while the death count has moved closer to 4,000.

The DOH said that 3,281 more infections were recorded. This pushed the cumulative total to 241,987, of which 52,893 are active cases. The Philippines is still on the 22nd spot in terms of COVID-19 cases globally, based on the dashboard of the World Health Organization.
Since August 31, the Philippines has recorded below 4,000 cases daily.
Twenty-six new patients were recorded to have died because of the disease, wherein 14 happened this month, eight in August, and four in July. This brought the death toll to 3,916.
Meanwhile, the tally on recoveries has increased to 185,178 after 286 more patients recovered.
“There were 21 duplicates that were removed from the total case count,” said the DOH, noting that the COVID-19 figures undergo constant cleaning and validation.
In a related development, the government’s One Hospital Command Center initiative has been able to refer more than 2,000 patients to hospitals and quarantine facilities.
“The One Hospital Command Center, a healthcare referral network linked with service providers such as hospitals, quarantine facilities, and medical transportation, has successfully closed 2,202 out of 2,447 cases to date, indicating a 90-percent success rate in its ability to quickly connect Filipinos needing medical attention,” the DOH said in a statement.
“The high success rate in closing cases is also attributed to the increasing COVID-19 bed capacities in different hospitals and facilities across the country, with the OHCC ensuring that the demand for beds and facilities is appropriately and adequately met,” it added.
To note, the OHCC was launched last August 6 to ensure effective and efficient health facility referral, particularly those in need of COVID-19 treatment.
The center can be accessed by downloading the free Pure Force Citizens application, and through the dedicated hotlines 02-886-505-00, 0915-777-7777 and 0919-977-3333.
