Fifteen new confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases and 49 new recoveries were recorded among Filipinos abroad with no new fatalities reported, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday.
In its latest bulletin, the DFA said the new recoveries were monitored in Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East while the new cases were from the Americas and the Middle East.
To date, the total number of COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos is 10,151. Of the total, 6,382 have recovered, 3,006 are undergoing treatment, and 763 died due to infections.
The total number of countries and regions with confirmed cases among Filipinos remains at 74.
Meanwhile, the total number of repatriates from Kuwait has breached the 7,000-mark following the arrival of 310 overseas Filipinos on Sept. 6, 2020.
Since the COVID-29 outbreak began in March 2020, the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, together with other attached agencies and recruitment firms, were able to mount several chartered flights at little cost to the Philippine government.
The Embassy only paid for the airfare of overseas Filipinos through the DFA’s billion-peso Assistance to Nationals Fund, specifically those who had no resources due to the pandemic.
