Bohol Prov'l Police Office's housing program draws support from Rep. Aumentado
CEBU CITY – Bohol 2nd District Rep. Vanessa Aumentado lauded the Bohol Provincial Police Office’s program that seeks to help the underprivileged.
In commending BPPO, Aumentado and her husband, Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado, donated P210,000 to BPPO for the construction of houses for three beneficiaries.
Aumentado said BPPO’s program is in line with the Kasimbayanan (Kapulisan, Simbahan at Pamayanan) program of the Philippine National Police.
“It is a holistic approach not just in the fight of criminality but also in helping those who are in need,” Aumentado said of the Kasimbayanan.
Aumentado said she did not hesitate backing BPPO’s program as she was inspired by “Pabahay Program” of her fellow Boholano lawmaker, Bohol 2nd District Rep. Alexie Besas Tutor, and the “Balay sa Gugma” of Bishop Abet Uy.
Aumentado said the housing programs of Tutor and Uy are “something worth emulating for.”
“That’s why when I learned about the BPPO's program headed by Provincial Director Col. Lorenzo Batuan, with no hesitation, Governor Aris Aumentado and I decided to commit to help,” said Ms Aumentado.
The lawmaker said their cash donations from personal funds are good for three houses or P70,000 per house. The amount will be used to purchase house materials.
Some policemen and kind-hearted individuals have volunteered to construct the houses, saving labor costs, Aumentado said.
The three beneficiaries are from Barangay Poblacion Norte, Carmen, Bohol,
Barangay Lapacan Sur, Buenavista, Bohol and Barangay Campatod, Loon, Bohol.
Aumentado said it is the BPPO which sets the criteria in choosing program beneficiaries.
“We want to thank our policemen and policewomen. Thank you for keeping our community safe, my big salute to you,” Aumentado said.
