Bangsamoro ARMM police regional director arrested for two counts of syndicated estafa

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police Brig. Gen. John Guyguyon, regional director of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, was arrested for two counts of syndicated estafa on Wednesday, March 29, inside his own quarters at the PRO-BAR in Camp Gen. Salipada K. Pendatun in Parang, Maguindanao.
A tracker team of the Criminal Investigation Detection Group in Bangsamoro in coordination with PRO-BAR Deputy Regional Director for Administration Brig. Gen. Francis Tria served the warrant of arrest issued by a Quezon City Court to the general.
No bail was recommended for his temporary release.
The regional chief was said not to have resisted arrest and is now detained at the CIDG PRO-BARMM.
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. designated Brig. Gen. Gil Francis Gorobia Tria as the officer-in-charge of the PRO-BAR effective March 29.
Guyguyon was among seven people included in a warrant of arrest for syndicated estafa issued by the Regional Trial Court National Capital Judicial Region.
No other details were given regarding the criminal offense.
Guyguyon was previously assigned as PRO-BAR Deputy Regional Director for Operations prior to assuming his post as regional director in 2022.
