Bretman Rock gets traditional hand-tapped skin ink


International star Bretman Rock recently honored his Filipino roots.

On Instagram, he flaunted his new tattoos.

According to him, the "tatak ceremony was truly unforgettable."

"I can’t wait to share all about it with you guys one day. But for now it’s between Me and Lilang who I always talk about in all my interviews and you can learn more about her on my book," he said. "Oh and my loved ones of course (Philippines flag and drop of blood emoji) also don’t mind the lines on skin lol I had a really good nap before I took these pics lol."

Bretman's post includes a behind-the-scenes video of him getting inked via the traditional hand-tapped style.

Then on his Instagram story, he shared the April 2023 cover of Vogue Philippines featuring famed Kalinga tattoo artist Whang-Od.

Note that the 106-year-old national artist is well-known as the "last" and oldest mambabatok, where she uses a thorn attached to a rattan/bamboo handle to ink clients.
In the comment section, a netizen asked Bretman if it hurt.

He replied: "not more than my other tattoos with machine."
