19,630 new recoveries noted, COVID-19 cases rise to 304,226
The Philippines on Sunday logged 19,630 new recovered cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the number of those who have recovered to over 252,000.

The tally of recoveries currently stands at 252,510, the Department of Health (DOH) announced. This rise in the figure is due to DOH’s “Oplan Recovery,” wherein a patient is tagged as recovered when certain conditions are met even without a second RT-PCR testing.
Meanwhile, the DOH also reported 2,995 new cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to 304,226. Of these, 46,372 are active cases. For six consecutive days, the Philippines has recorded below 3,000 cases a day.
Majority of newly recorded infections were from Metro Manila with 1,065, followed by Cavite with 297, Bulacan with 180, Batangas with 157, and Laguna with 143.
The DOH also reported 60 more fatalities, raising the COVID-19 death count to 5,344. Of the new reported deaths, it was noted that 37 died this month, nine in August, 11 in July, two in June, and one in April.
“Twenty-five duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 16 were recovered cases. Moreover, 10 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified to deaths after final validation,” the DOH said.
“These numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation,” the DOH said.
Of the 135 licensed laboratories nationwide, only six laboratories were unable to submit their data on time to the DOH system. These are the Amosup Seamen’s Hospital, Daniel O. Mercado Medical Center, Dr. Jorge P. Royeca Hospital, Lanao Del Norte COVID-19 Testing Laboratory, Kaiser Medical Center Inc., and St. Luke's Medical Center BGC.
A total of 3,405,136 individuals in the country had undergone COVID-19 testing nationwide, the DOH said.
