Xavier School San Juan's statement on the football incident
After yesterday's [official statement](https://mb.com.ph/2023/3/28/school-s-official-statement-after-student-athlete-collapsed-at-soccer-game) released by Colegio San Agustin on what happened to their student athlete who collapsed and died at a football match, Xavier School San Juan has followed and released their own statement as well.
Dear members of the Xavier School San Juan Community,
It has been three days since the death of a student from Colegio San Agustin after falling ill at a football match held at Xavier School last Sunday, March 26. We are still looking into many details, but we want to first and foremost condole with the CSA community and extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.
We understand that this news has been distressing for our community as well, and are offering support, especially to those who were present at the game.
As we come to terms with this unfortunate incident, we ask for your understanding and patience as we work through its aftermath. We are collaborating with various parties to evaluate the sequence of events. In particular, we are reviewing our safety protocols and procedures to identify areas where improvements can be made. This will apply to any games that take place on our campus. We are committed to ensuring that our students and guests can participate in campus activities in a safe and secure environment. Thank you for your cooperation and support during this challenging time. As we enter the Holy Week, let us unite our pain to the Lord's sacrifice on the cross, trusting in the mystery of his Passion, death, and Resurrection. Sincerely, Fr. Aristotle C. Dy, SJ, Ph.D. School President
