Manila Water on Monday assured its customers in the east zone of Metro Manila and Rizal that water remains safe to drink amid the continuous ashfall from Taal Volcano.
“Manila water assures its customers in the East Zone of Metro Manila and Rizal province that water remains safe to drink, even as ashfall due to the Mt. Taal eruption has been experienced around the metro and in Rizal areas,” Manila Water said in an advisory.
The water concessionaire also advised its consumers to make sure to properly cover water containers to avoid contamination from ash.
"We encourage everyone to stay alert and be prepared. Take the necessary precautions to safeguard your health and that of your loved ones," it added.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) had earlier raised Alert Level 4 over Taal Volcano, warning about a possible hazardous explosive eruption within hours or days. Ashfall from Taal Volcano has already reached Metro Manila.
