The announcement was made when the Ambassador went to Nasugbu West Central School which is temporarily being used as an evacuation complex.
The US Embassy in the Philippines also posted a picture about the said announcement on their Twitter account.
“Sung Kim visits a Batangas evacuation center & announces $100k in U.S. assistance through @USAID_Manila partner @WorldVisionPH. The relief supplies will support approx. 7,600 people affected by #TaalEruption2020,” the Twitter post read.
The eruption of Taal Volcano on January 12, 2010 has displaced thousands of people as those living within the declared danger zone have been barred by the government from going back to prevent a catastrophe in case a major eruption actually happens.
As a result, many of the families are left to stay in cramped up evacuation centers or stay with nearby relatives while waiting for the go-signal to return home.
