In an advisory Thursday, the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said the over 30-year-old man who tested positive was in the Philippines with friends from Febraury 28 to March 3.
"He had diarrhea in the Philippines on March 2," the CDC said.
On March 3, the man had himself checked at a clinic in Taiwan for "having a dry throat and tiredness."
The man was reported as "suspected case" on March 4, and was confirmed positive for COVID-19 by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on March 5.
"Related investigation suggested it is an imported case linked to the Philippines," the Taiwan CDC said.
