Taguig City confirms BGC employee was one of two new COVID-19 cases

The Taguig City Government confirmed on Saturday that one of the two new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases announced by the Department of Health (DOH) last Friday was an employee of Deloitte Philippines, which has offices at the Net Lima Plaza in Bonifacio Global City.

In a statement, the local government said that the employee was in stable condition after he was admitted to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) on March 5.
The employee initially sought medical consultation on March 4, and was put under the surveillance by the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU).
The local government is still monitoring the status of the employee, while the CEDSU, as well as city officials, have been in close coordination with the concerned property managers .
"Contact tracing and proper management are ongoing," the statement read.
The CEDSU, has been conducting preventive measures and has put necessary protocols in place.
"Since January of this year, we have reached out to the BGC community and all barangays in the City and have informned them of our reporting and monitoring procedures, the availability of two dedicated ambulance teams, a vigilant service hotline, and the strict implementation of the Executive Order to guide the public on guidelines for holding mass gatherings within the City," the statement read.
Residents are reminded to stay calm amid false news being spread about the disease and are advised to source their information from reliable channels.
They are also reminded to practice constant and proper handwashing with soap and water, hand sanitizing with alcohol, covering when sneezing and coughing, and practicing healthy lifestyle habits to boost the immune system.

The Bonifacio Global City (BGC), for its part, said in a statement that it "is working closely with the management of the NEO Buildings, the city government of Taguig, and the Department of Health to ensure all protocols are followed to manage the situation".
"The health and safety of our BGCitizens are our top priority. Frequent sanitation and disinfection of BGC malls and buildings, public transportation utilities, parks and common areas, are being conducted, as well as temperature checks in entrances," the statement read.
