Shell Pilipinas Corporation has joined the league of corporates that have been showing financial rebound from the scourge of the coronavirus pandemic, having registered a net income of P4.1 billion, or 6.0-percent higher from a leaner P3.9 billion earnings in 2021. In a statement to the media, the company emphasized that its upturn in profitability “was achieved amidst a challenging year with high inflation, fuel price volatility brought by the Russia-Ukraine war and Philippine peso depreciation.” It explained that the financial gain could be attributed to “strong marketing performance as the year’s volume delivery increased by 10-percent,” propped by higher market penetration of its premium fuel products. According to Shell Pilipinas President and Chief Executive Officer Lorelie Quiambao-Osial, “the environment and our customers’ needs are shifting, and Shell Pilipinas is well positioned to be a trusted partner in meeting the current and changing needs of our customers,” adding that “we continue to be reliable, agile, flexible, and adaptive in this ever-changing landscape.” The company further reported that the higher demand for fuel commodities across commercial and industrial segments shored up volume sales by 19-percent; and that somehow exhibited “full bounce back to pre-pandemic levels garnering growth through key customer wins and strengthened reseller capability. “ The firm’s lubricants business similarly maintained market edge – primarily for its Shell Advance and Shell Helix products. “The business garnered 9.0-percent increase in volume while sale of carbon neutral products delivered a 39-percent increase,” Shell said; further noting that the expanded market was achieved in conjunction with “offer expansions on coolants, brake fluids and oil filters.” On the firm’s operational cash flow, this currently hovers at P1.8 billion, excluding working capital movement – and that escalated from P1.1 billion in the previous year. At its mobility stations, the company stated that Shell V-Power remained as the most preferred brand of customers; and that now comes “with a new and improved version launched last February 2023,” and the advantage is, it  “cleans 100-percent of performance-robbing deposits and prevents future build-up on vital engine parts.” The non-fuels retail business of the company was similarly regarded as another profit driver, with it posting a record income of P2.6 billion last year, up by 26-percent versus 2021. On the whole, the non-fuels business portfolio of Shell Pilipinas include 217 Shell Select stores, 223 Select Express, 93 Deli2Gos and 479 lube bays nationwide. Another new product that customers can patronize at the mobility stations of the company is “Shell Café “; and this is considered “a new offer that enhances fuel stations to be mobility destinations where customers can take care of themselves and their vehicles.”
