This was in addition to the seven cases that the LGU has disclosed earlier.
The city government said a 57-year-old male resident of Barangay Greenhills had cough and colds when he went to a private hospital to get tested for the disease.
“Last night (Wednesday), the patient was transferred to a tertiary hospital here in Metro Manila. He is currently in stable condition,” the city government said in an advisory.
It is yet not clear if the said latest case was included in the 16 new cases of the disease announced by the DOH.
Although there were only six confirmed cases of COVID-19 in San Juan based on the data released by the DOH, the city government said in an earlier statement that there are seven cases of the disease recorded in the city.
On Wednesday, the city government revealed two new cases of COVID-19 involving a 64-year-old male from Barangay Greenhills and a 28-year-old female from Barangay Maytunas. These cases were in addition to the five cases it earlier announced.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora has again reminded city residents to frequently wash their hands properly or use alcohol with 70 percent solution.
He also advised them to “avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth, and to regularly disinfect their surroundings.”
According to the Health Department, San Juan City has the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases with six cases, involving patients identified as residents of the city.
The mayor has earlier urged private subdivisions, townhouse complexes, condominiums, and other private property owners in the city to implement their own “periodic precautionary measures” such as sanitation and disinfection to prevent the spread of the disease in their communities.
Posh subdivisions and gated communities can be found in the city of over 120,000 residents as of 2015 census, particularly in Barangay Greenhills—the village where the new case of COVID-19 in San Juan reportedly resides.
