Relief work of Vice President Leni Robredo began as soon as a column of ash and smoke was released from Taal Volcano in Batangas that affected nearby provinces as well as Metro Manila, it was announced by the Office of the Vice President.

Robredo herself called for volunteers who will prepare emergency food packs for distribution to the affected residents.
“If you’re in the QC (Quezon City) area, we need volunteers tonight to repack goods for distribution for Taal victims tomorrow…Your help will be much much much appreciated,” she said Monday night on her personal Facebook page.
Several people from Metro Manila immediately responded to her call to help an Angat Buhay team in the relief efforts. For this, she expressed gratitude to the volunteers.
“Thank you to our volunteers who heeded our call for help at such short notice. I posted our call for help at 9:43 last night. In less than an hour, our office was swamped with volunteers all wanting to do their share in helping the victims,” she said in separate post.
“May you all be blessed a thousand-fold,” Robredo added.
The mandatory evacuation of residents in Batangas towns within the 14-kilometer danger zone due to Taal Volcano’s continuous rumblings since Sunday. The status of the active volcano remains at Alert Level 4.
Robredo prayed for the safety of the people affected by the volcanic activity. She then advised them to take safety precautions given the effects of the ash fall to public health.
“Dasal ko ang kaligtasan ng ating mga kababayan sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng Luzon, lalo na ang mga naninirahan malapit sa Taal Volcano na kinailangang ilikas,” the lady offcial said.
(I pray for the safety of our countrymen in different parts of Luzon, especially those living near Taal Volcano who needed to be evacuated.)
“Mag-ingat po tayo sa panganib na dulot ng ashfall, at manatiling alerto para sa anunsiyo ng pamahalaan (Let us be careful for the dangers caused by ash fall and remain alert for the announcement of the government),” Robredo added.
Under Angat Buhay, Robredo’s office has partnered with the private sector for immediate relief and rehabilitation for various communities nationwide affected by earthquakes, typhoons, and other calamities.
