QCPD adds checkpoints to designated 'warm zones' in Quezon City

By Joseph Almer Pedrajas At least seven areas in Quezon City will be having police checkpoints after two of its barangays have been placed under extreme enhanced community quarantine over the rising number of cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Rodriguez Ave.; Umbel Street; and St. Ignacia St. Members of Galas Police Station-7 will be leading the checkpoints in those areas, while a a Quick Response Team (QRT) standby point will be set up near Cathedral Heights and Rodriguez Avenue cor. Victoria Ave., the QCPD public information office said. In Bgy. Tandang Sora, checkpoints will be installed at the corner of Neptune and Jupiter streets; Neptune St. corner Mercury St.; Tandang Sora Ave. in front of Hilda Village; and Janet St. corner Carol St. These will be manned by Talipapa Police Station-3 personnel. The seven areas are identified as "warm zones" or the areas within a 500-meter radius where at least one COVID-19 patient lives. On Wednesday, the barangays where these areas are located — Tandang Sora and Kalusugan — were put under extreme enhanced community quarantine by Mayor Joy Belmonte as there are at least three confirmed COVID-19 cases reported. "Ginagawa po natin ito para sa proteksiyon nating lahat laban sa COVID-19 (We're doing this for our protection against COVID-19)," QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo said. "We are here to protect our people and not to harass anyone. We therefore ask for the cooperation and understanding of everybody," he added.
