I do not feel unwell,” she said. Duterte placed herself under voluntary self-quarantine after she attended a lunch meeting with Senator Sherwin Gatchalian earlier this week. Gatchalian had earlier announced that he was going on isolation after one of the resource persons in a Senate hearing tested positive for the coronavirus. The mayor said she was bothered by the reaction of the people on the restrictions the city government imposed as precautionary measures against Covid-19. According to City Information Officer Jefry Tupas said in a statement, Duterte had herself listed as a person under monitoring (PUM with the Davao City Health Office. “I am slightly bothered that the people have no sense of urgency on the problem we are facing right now,” she said. Duterte said the people were reacting negatively to the guidelines the city government released, but she said it was for the safety. “Once nga mo kalat na diri sa atong siyudad, daghan kaayo ang mamatay because dunay limitations ang health care facilities (Once the virus will spread in the city many will die because of our limitation in health care facilities),” she said. Tupas said while the mayor has not suffered from any flu-like symptom, she opted to undergo self-quarantine to protect others if she may be found to be sick in the next few days. He said Duterte continued to work through emails, messaging, and video-telecom an isolated bedroom at her residence.
