Pinoys 'stressed' over COVID-19 pandemic - survey

A huge number of Filipinos are experiencing stress due to the COVID-19 crisis according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) Survey.

The survey, conducted from July 3 to 6, found 51 percent of the 1,555 survey respondents experienced great stress from the COVID-19 situation while 35 percent admitted it gave them much stress.

Only 14 percent felt little or no stress because of the pandemic.

SWS said that those who experienced great stress were 62 percent of families that had experienced involuntary hunger in the past three months.

Great stress was also higher among those who do not have a job but used to have one and those who never had a job at 55 percent.

The same goes for Metro Manila and Visayas at 56 percent, compared to 49 percent in Balance Luzon, and 46 percent in Mindanao.

SWS also found that junior high school graduates are more stressed with the pandemic at 58 percent.

Data were gathered through mobile phone interviews of adult Filipinos 18 years old and above, randomly drawn from a database of mobile phone numbers compiled from SWS national and subnational representative face-to-face surveys since 2017.

SWS noted the sampling error margins of ±2% for national percentages, ±6% for Metro Manila, and ±5% for Balance Luzon, ±5% Visayas, and ±5% in Mindanao.
