(Mark Balmores / MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO) This was announced by Vice President Leni Robredo as the confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) continues to rise in the country. “Ang pondong ito ay ginamit natin para makabili ng unang batch ng PPE sets, na magagamit ng 1,000 na frontliners sa susunod na 15 na araw (The funds were used to buy the first batch of PPE sets that can be used by 1,000 frontliners in the next 15 days),” she said in a Facebook post. The funds released by Robredo’s office increased the total donations for COVID-19 frontliners to P12 million. The OVP is set to distribute on Monday evening the PPE for medical and healthcare workers in various Metro Manila hospitals. ”Our list is getting longer, many of them coming from regional, provincial and local hospitals. We hope we will be able to provide for everyone,” she said. Angat Buhay partner Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership is accepting donations from private individuals and organizations to aid healthcare workers with their needs. The group has already raised P6.4 million in donations to fund the personal protective equipment for frontline personnel. The medical frontliners have found themselves at risk of contracting the new coronavirus due to the shortage of face masks and other PPE in hospitals. The vice president said they were grateful for the public donations and fundraisers organized by the Angat Buhay partner. “Thank you very much to the generous souls out there,” Robredo said.
