Number of daily COVID-19 infections continues to rise in Baguio City
BAGUIO CITY- The city recorded another single-day record of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases with 27 on Saturday.
Of the 27 cases, 22 were contacts of previous patients, three were a result of expanded testing, and two were walk-in patients who said they were experiencing symptoms of the viral disease.
The city also reported one fatality in a 67-year-old male with co-morbidities.
Eight of the newest cases were aged one to 17 years old, three of them siblings.
As of 6 p.m., August 15, the city has recorded a total of 242 confirmed cases, 108 active, 127 recoveries and seven deaths.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said contact tracers are working double time to keep tabs on the COVID-19 cases and their contacts to prevent the spread of the virus.
Analytics showed 80 percent of the recent positive cases were household and worksite contacts who were diagnosed after being contact traced.
The other cases were detected as a result of expanded testing in workplaces frequented by crowd like groceries, malls, market and banks.
Those who came in contact with a confirmed case should follow strict home quarantine for 14 days and should report to health centers if symptoms develop. Home quarantine means separate room and kitchen utensils.
Meanwhile, the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) informed the public effective Saturday the hospital services of Obstetrics and Gynecology Radiation Oncology Neuroscience were being temporarily suspended for the purpose of contact tracing and disinfection.
