BACOLOD CITY - A 65-year-old councilor from Tayasan, Negros Oriental who was tested positive for Coronavirus Disease (COVID) - 2019 died at Siliman University Medical Center (SUMC) in Dumaguete City on Sunday.
This was confirmed to Manila Bulletin by Bimbo Miraflor, public information officer of the provincial government, saying that Patient 39 in the country expired at the said hospital at around 11:09 a.m. due to complications.
Miraflor said the patient’s body will be cremated.
Around 240 persons with direct contact to the patient were advised to go on self quarantine for 14 days, including his family.
Miraflor said the patient traveled to Metro Manila on February 26 to attend the Philippine Councilor’s League (PCL) 11th national congress the following day.
On February 28, the councilor visited Greenhills in San Juan, which is one of the COVID-19 affected areas in the National Capital Region (NCR).
