Muntinlupa curfew to start on March 16

The Muntinlupa City Council has passed a resolution imposing curfew as part of the community quarantine covering the whole Metro Manila from March 15 to April 14.

City Ordinance 2020-065, approved on March 14, states that the Muntinlupa curfew will be from 8PM to 5AM starting on March 16 until April 14.
Exempted in the curfew are “those who work at night such as call center agents, hospital personnel such as doctors, nurses, and other health personnel, ambulance drivers, security guards and those who may be allowed by the Task Force herein created.”
The delivery of basic necessities like food and medicines, and public transport services like buses, jeepneys and tricycles are also exempted as well as peace and order personnel in both city and barangay levels, and emergency cases as determined by the Muntinlupa Traffic Management Bureau (MTMB).
Those who are tasked to implement the curfew are the Philippine National Police (PNP) Muntinlupa, barangay chairmen and their personnel, and the Muntinlupa Public Order and Security Office.
The ordinance states that violation of the curfew will carry the following fines: P1,000, first offense; P2,500, second offense; and P5,000, third offense.
Muntinlupa has closed the border between the city and San Pedro, Laguna starting on March 15 as part of the travel ban in Metro Manila to stem the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The curfew ordinance was sponsored by Councilors Raul Corro, Alexson Diaz, Allan Rey Camilon, Ting Niefes, Stephanie Teves, Ivee Rhia Arciaga-Tadefa, Marissa Rongavilla, Francis lan Bagatsing, Ma. Dhesiree Arevalo, Mamerto Sevilla Jr., Arlene Hilapo, Cornelio Martinez, Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president Walter Arcilla and Kenichi Takagi Jr., Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president.
