The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) has moved its weekend suspension of operations for rail replacement works scheduled for August and September.

The weekend suspension of operations for August 8-9, August 21-23, and September 12-13 have been rescheduled to October 10-11, October 31, November 1-2, and November 14-15.
In an advisory, the MRT-3 management said the rescheduling of its weekend suspension of operations was done upon the recommendation of its maintenance provider Sumitomo-MHI-TESP.
“According to Sumitomo-MHI-TESP, this is due to travel restrictions being imposed by countries to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” the management said.
Aside from rail replacement works, MRT-3 said the weekend suspensions will also allow Sumitomo-MHI-TESP to “perform rail destressing, rerailing, turnouts replacement, resurfacing, rail profile grinding, ballasting and tamping, and other major works for MRT-3’s trains, electrical systems, and other subsystems.”
Sumitomo-MHI-TESP meanwhile assured the rescheduling of operations suspensions will not affect its target completion dates for rail replacement and increased train speed.
