IMUS CITY, Cavite – Authorities reported here on Sunday, March 15, the second confirmed 2019 Coronavirus Disease (CoVID) case in Cavite province.
Governor Juanito Victor "Jonvic" Remulla Jr. said that the latest confirmed patient was a medical practitioner who apparently got the virus through community transmission.
The patient is now confined in a private hospital in Silang municipality, Remulla said.
"We have just received a confirmed second positive case of COVID in the province of Cavite. The patient is confined in a private hospital in Silang. He is a medical practitioner. The case is apparently a result of community transmission," Remulla said in a message posted on his Facebook account on Sunday morning.
Silang is a fast developing municipality in upland fifth district or the CarSiGMA (Carmona-Silang-General Mariano Alvarez) area.
In his message, Remulla reminded anew the citizens in the province to be wary and take precaution about the CoVID-19 situation that'
The governor said that the virus transmission in the community was reported "very high" and advised Cavitenos to stay at home always if possible.
"COVID is here in Cavite. The possibilities of community transmission is very high. Please stay at home as much as as possible," he said.
Remulla likewise reminded the Caviteños traveling to the National Capital Region (NCR) to be prepared with their documents, particularly their identification cards as the community quarantine in Metro Manila started to be implemented Sunday, March 15.
The governor also called on his constituents to be prepared for a possible delay in their travel to and from Metro Manila with the checkpoints and other measures being enforced in the area.
Remulla and the other officials earlier called called for cooperation and actions in the fight against the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (CoVID)-19 in the province..
On Saturday, March 14, Remulla said that of the 51 CoVID-19 persons under investigation (PUIs) reported in the province, 22 remained under observation with test results pending and the number of persons under monitoring (PUMs) at 106.
The governor said he would continue to render updates on the COVID-19 situation, and the actions being undertaken in the province as soon as he gets the verified reports from concerned authorities.
Remulla has been giving the updates through the social media.
The first confirmed CoVID-19 case patient was reported last Tuesday in capital Imus. He is a 48-year-old seaman.
