DAVAO CITY -- Presidential Daughter and Mayor Sara Duterte submitted herself to voluntary quarantine after a meeting with Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian who also opted for self-quarantine after allegedly interacting with a person who is positive for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to City Information Officer Jefry Tupasp, Duterte signed up as a Person Under Monitoring (PUM) under the Davao City Health Office.
Tupas said one of Mayor Duterte’s employees at their residence was unwell Wednesday night and is now also listed as a PUM.
"Yesterday, Mayor Sara was in a lunch meeting with Committee on Environment Senator Sherwin Gatchalian in Manila and they discussed important matters for Davao City. Senator Gatchalian is himself under a self-quarantine in an announcement made last night," he said.
He said while the mayor is not suffering from flu-like symptoms, she opted to undergo self-quarantine to protect others if she may be found to be sick in the next few days.
Tupas said Duterte is now confined in an isolated bedroom at her residence and will continue to work through emails, messaging, and video teleconference.
"All those who need the attention of the Mayor may directly message her through her mobile number," he said.
Sen. Christopher Lawrence 'Bong Go' had earlier announced that he and President Rodrigo Duterte will undergo testing for COVID-19.
"We are not doing this because we have symptoms of COVID-19. We are doing this to ensure that we are fit and healthy to engage the public and perform our duties in the coming days and weeks," he said.
Go said he and the President will remain ready "to serve and die for the Filipino people."
“Considering that some Cabinet members we engage with regularly have been exposed to individuals who were tested positive for COVID-19 and have decided to undergo self-quarantine, it will be prudent for us to take precautionary measures in compliance with the advice of the health officials,” he added.
