LGUs to implement use of quarantine passes under MECQ

The use of quarantine passes will be implemented anew in Metro Manila and other cities which will be placed under modified enchanted community quandaries starting August 4, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año said on Monday.

In an interview with DZMM Teleradyo, Año said he will meet with the Metro Manila mayors to discuss the implementation of the quarantine pass system in their respective cities.

“Under the MECQ, kailangan natin ng (we will need) quarantine pass. We will leave it to the LGUs (local government units) kung papaano nila i-implement (on how they will implement the quarantine pass system)," Año said.

“Ang mga papayagan lumabas ay kailangan lang, mga necessity, essential 'yung purpose (Only those with essential purpose will be allowed to leave their homes)," he added.

Año said police checkpoints will also be placed again in borders outside of MECQ areas going to GCQ (general community quarantine) or MGCQ (modified general community quarantine) areas.

Since mass transport will also be halted under MECQ, Año urged companies to provide shuttle services for their employees.

He also encouraged the use of bicycles and motorcycles for transport, as mass transport will be halted under MECQ.

As for the use of tricycles, Año said it is up to the LGUs whether to allow it or not.
