La Union suspends classes in all levels from March 14 to April 12

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Classes in all levels in public and private schools were ordered suspended starting March 14 until April 12.
The city government here, together with the San Fernando City Schools Division (SFCSD), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Liga ng mga Barangay, agreed to the suspension of classes as part of the city’s health and security measures after the Department of Health (DOH) raised its alert on the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) to Code Red Sub-Level 2.

This was signed by City Mayor Alfredo Pablo R. Ortega, Vice Mayor Maria Rosario Eufrosina Nisce, SFCSD Superintendent Dr. Rowena C. Banzon, CHED Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Dr. Rogelio T. Galera, Jr., and Liga ng mga Barangay President Geraldine R. Ortega during an emergency meeting held Friday morning, March 13.
Under the order, students have been enjoined to fulfill their educational requirement even while classes are suspended.
Schools will also be devising schemes to ensure that students could still undertake school, and that they will be reminded that suspension of classes does not mean they were already on-vacation.this.
It was noted that it was still the parents’ ultimate responsibility to monitor the activities of their children, and to advise them to stay in their homes and not roam around and visit computer or internet shops, malls, restaurants, and other tourist destinations.
Minors will not be allowed to roam or loiter around the city from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
