SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The province of La Union is now under community quarantine starting Monday, March 16, until April 12, depending on the recommendations of the provincial inter-agency task force on the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) of the provincial government.
According to Gov. Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega III, he signed an executive order, placing the province under community quarantine to enhance the implementation of precautionary measures.
“Enhance our measures further and to take more stringent actions to ensure we are doing our best to prevent the spread of the virus and keep LU COVID-19 free,” said Ortega.
It is stated that restriction on movement shall be restricted during the period. All constituents shall only be limited to going out of their homes only when necessary.
All tourist destinations have also been temporarily closed.
Joint personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the provincial's health and disaster management team have been directed to set up checkpoint in towns of Sudipen, Burgos, Rosario, Sto. Tomas, and Pugo to ensure compliances.
Class suspension in all public and private schools in the province has also been imposed with schools administrators, principals and teachers mandated to devise alternative learning schemes for their students during the said suspension.
Curfew hours within respective jurisdictions shall start not later than 10 p.m. and end not earlier than 5 a.m.
Consuming alcoholic drinks shall also be prohibited in public places at all times to ensure the policy on social distancing.
All district hospitals have also been mandated to have at least one isolation room.
