La Salle's Leila Cruz likely out of the season due to ACL injury
De La Salle’s Leila Cruz will likely be out for the rest of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury she sustained in their second-round win over National University last March 25.
Cruz had to be carried out of the court after a non-contact fall in the first set of the match and couldn't return since then.
The news was confirmed by La Salle assistant coach Noel Orcullo on Wednesday, March 29, where the Lady Spikers turned back the stiff challenge of the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws in straight sets.
“Sad to say, she got an ACL [tear]. Tanggapin namin kung ano iyong [nangyari].

“Although iyong bata naman positive naman sa sarili niya na kung ano man iyong magiging outcome ng MRI niya, tatanggapin naman niya. ‘Yon nga lang, talagang nawalan kami ng isang vital part sa team. So, we have to move on,” said La Salle assistant coach Noel Orcullo. The 23-year-old Cruz underwent an MRI a day prior and is seem to be awaiting the results. Despite seeing limited minutes for La Salle in the first round eliminations, Cruz managed to finish as the fourth best scorer with 31 points behind super rookie Angel Canino (98), graduating Jolina dela Cruz (68) and middle blocker The Gagate (68). La Salle is gunning to keep its record perfect in 10 games when it takes on University of Santo Tomas on Sunday, April 2.
