Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has conveyed her support to the people of China in the face of the challenges they are facing with the spread of the deadly Coronavirus disease 2019.

This was disclosed by the Chinese Embassy in Manila who confirmed that the Davao City mayor and daughter of President Duterte wrote them a letter extending her support following the outbreak of the virus that so far claimed 1,669 lives, most of them in mainland China.
“Recently, the President's daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte wrote to Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines H. E. Huang Xilian, and conveyed support to China’s citizens and residents on the outbreak of COVID-19,” the Chinese Embassy said in a statement on Sunday.
In the said letter, the Embassy said the Davao City mayor commended the efforts of the Chinese Central Government to strengthen public health measures to address the situation and expressed her hope that the Chinese people will continue to find strength in one another and in the outpouring of support from all over the world.
In quoting the President’s daughter, the Embassy said: “She (Sara) believed, with the resiliency and collective efforts of the people of China, there will be an end to this emergency and that the improvement of the general well-being of the people will follow.”
