ILOILO CITY— Mayor Jerry Treñas has placed another barangay in this city under strict lockdown after 10 cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded.

Treñas issued Executive Order 107 and imposed enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) for residents of Pali Benedicto village in Mandurriao district since July 29.
Pali Benedicto became the second village to be placed under lockdown within one week due to confirmed community transmission of COVID-19.
This means that 75 households in Pali Benedicto are undergoing “surgical extreme ECQ,” which means strict monitoring and they are not allowed to go out of their homes.
Treñas assured that the city government will provide the residents with food and other necessities for the duration of the lockdown.
According to Treñas, the nine COVID-19 cases all lived in one compound.
The Iloilo City Health Office is also conducting rigid contact tracing outside of the compound as one the infected went out to drink with friends.
With ECQ in place, it means only essential persons are allowed to go out of their residences and officials are closely monitoring the area.
Meanwhile, the lockdown is supposed to last until Friday or when contact tracing and sanitation are finished.
