The eruption of Taal Volcano started last January 12 and intensified in the succeeding days, resulting in widespread ashfall that adversely affected and displaced thousands of families in Batangas and the nearby provinces of Cavite and Laguna.
Relief goods donated included canned goods for over 2000 families, 480 3-liter bottled mineral water, 300 N95 face masks, and an undisclosed amount of monetary assistance to the provincial government of Batangas.
Ilocos Norte had also provided assistance to the victims of the earthquake incident in Batanes last July as well as the flood victims in Cagayan and Apayao last December, 2019.
Aside from the provincial government, various non-government organizations and other private groups in Ilocos Norte also initiated donation drive activities for the relief effort.
Ilocos Norte continues to strengthen the Ilokano spirit of unity by extending assistance to other provinces especially in times of calamities.
