Iligan City placed under community quarantine

(Photo by Bonita Ermac / MANILA BULLETIN) Regencia said the order will take effect March 16, and shall remain in force until he orders its lifting. Under the order, all passengers of public or private vehicles entering this city must present government-issued identification cards, register their names, contact numbers and history of travel at the entry checkpoints in Buru-un, Maria Cristina, Dalipuga, Abuno and Mandulog, among other places. All passengers with body temperature of 38 degrees Celcius or above upon screening shall be held temporarily at the checkpoint, and will be referred to the Emergency Operations Center for further action. Those with travel from abroad and local areas with COVID-19 cases, based on their registration information, must undergo home quarantine for 14 days. Those who will refuse to undergo quarantine shall not be allowed to enter the city. Government employees will continue with regular work, but officials have been required to implement alterrnative working arrangements and impose social distancing between and among them. All business establishments may continue operating, and may exercise flexible schedules except for the following which will not be allowed to operate: swimming pools, cockpits, bowling lanes, gyms, team sports, movie houses, karaoke, beer houses, amusement places, internet cafes, bingo and the like. The Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC), through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), must monitor regularly the prices and quantities of commodities especially the alcohols and sanitizers during the Community Quarantine period. The other precautionary measures listed by the local government were:
  • Postponement of public activities and mass gathering of any kind regardless of size including Church Worship Service shall be monitored by the respective LGU-Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT).
  • Due to the suspension of classes, all students are strictly required to stay at home.
  • Practice regular and proper handwashing with soap and water or apply alcohol or sanitizer; social distancing at least 1-1/2 meters from anyone; cough etiquette  should be observed by covering mouth during cough or sneezing using handkerchief, hand elbow, worn clothes or tissue which will have to be disposed of properly.
Regencia reiterated that there was no lockdown being implemented in the city, but only a community quarantine. “Lockdown is very far from quarantine and we will not allow it to happen,” said Regencia. City Health Office Chief Dra. Cherlina Cañaveral disclosed that, as of March 15, there were nine persons under investigation (PUIs). The number includes seven PUIs who are already on home quarantine, one death (PH40), and one currently admitted in a hospital here awaiting for throat swab results.   CHO recorded 47 persons under monitoring (PUMs) in Barangays Bagong Silang 6, Dalipuga 3, Del Carmen 3, Hinaplanon 2, Kabacsanan 1,Luinab 1, Pala-o 1, San Miguel 3, Sta. Felomina 1, Santo Rosario 1, Saray 7, Suarez 7, Tambacan 1, Tibanga 2, Ubaldo Laya 3 and Villa Verde 5 while the PUIs were from Barangays Bonbonon, Mahayahay and Villa Verde.
