(PCOO / MANILA BULLETIN) As COVID-19 cases continue to spike, Duque conveyed a message to uplift all Filipino frontliners at the department’s flag-raising ceremony Monday. “Alam kong pare-pareho tayong pagod at halos abot na sa dulo ang sakripisyo. Itong pag kamusta ko sa inyo ay isa na ring pagyakap at pag saludo sa lubos na serbisyo sa ating bansa at sa ating kapwa Filipino,” Duque said. (I know that we are all tired and have been sacrificing a lot. This greeting of mine is to give you a virtual hug and salute for your service to our country and fellow Filipinos.) “For all the brave and selfless Filipinos working at the frontlines to stop COVID-19, I have a simple message: Maraming, maraming salamat po sa inyong serbisyo,” Duque added. The secretary also said that during this difficult time, the tireless work at the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic is an inspiration to the government and to the Filipino people. While recognizing the efforts and value of frontliners, he ensured that they “are protected and equipped.” “Your work against COVID-19 is nothing short of heroic. We continue to rely on your heroism in the weeks and months ahead. I also hope to see you in better times to personally embrace and thank you for your heroism,” Duque went on. “Stay strong and keep heart. The Filipino people will never forget your heroism in the face of this great adversity. May your families, relatives and friends continue to understand our solemn oath. I pray with them and the whole nation that we shall overcome.”
