According to the DSWD, it has conducted Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) in coordination with LGUs to assess the immediate relief and response requirements of Tanauan City and the municipalities of Cuenca and Mataas na Kahoy in Batangas province. "DSWD also met with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) for the plan to set up mobile emergency telecommunications on the ground, and with the World Food Programme (WFP) for the provision of mobile storage units for relief operations,” it added. Citing the  Jan. 22 report of its Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC), the department said there are more than 39, 000 families who have been displaced by the Jan. 12 volcanic eruption. “There are 39,052 families or 148,987 persons taking temporary shelter in 493 evacuation centers in the provinces of Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, and Quezon, while 22,808 families or 88,911 individuals are staying with their relatives and/or friends,” as of 6 a.m., the report stated. The DSWD said it has provided some P8.9 million in assistance to the families affected by Taal Volcano eruption. "DSWD has already provided a total of P8,925,355.54 worth of food and non-food items to the affected families as resource augmentation to the affected towns.” The department reiterated its call to individuals and groups to join the government’s relief operations by assisting in the repacking of family food packs and relief items. "To ensure the speedy production of family food packs for distribution to the evacuees, the Department is calling for volunteers to help repack relief goods at the National Resource Operation Center (NROC) in Pasay City.” Interested volunteers may contact the DSWD-NROC at telephone numbers (02) 8-553-9864/(02) 8-8528081 or through [email protected], for schedules. Meanwhile, DSWD Undersecretary Camilo Gudmalin and Assistant Secretary Joseline Niwane visited evacuation centers in Balayan, Batangas on Jan. 15. They provided 1,338 family food packs (FFPs) to affected families and 150 hamburgers to children staying in the evacuation center in Sampaga Elementary School. Undersecretary Danilo Pamonag and Assistant Secretary Rodolfo Encabo distributed FFPs in Sto. Tomas, Batangas. The recipients of the food packs were the City Evacuation Center with 207 FFPs, Sto. Tomas Primary Elementary School with 121 FFPs, and San Roque Elementary School with 172 FFPs. DSWD Undersecretary Rene Glen Paje also extended DSWD’s assistance to the affected families in Pansin Elementary School, Lucsuhin Ilaya Covered Court, and Amuyong Covered Court, in Alfonso, Cavite. Undersecretary Mark Allan Jay Yambao and Director Restituto Macuto "checked the needs" of families affected in Manghinao Elementary School Evacuation Center in Cuenca, Batangas, the DSWD said in a statement. The McDonalds House of Charity through Assistant Secretary Rhea Peñaflor donated meals for the disaster response duty teams, it said. The DSWD said Assistant Secretaries Jose Antonio Hernandez and Rodolfo Encabo met with officials of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the Province of Batangas to discuss the status of relief distribution to affected communities in Batangas as well as the management of donations. On Jan. 16, Hernandez, with Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and Senator Bong Go, visited evacuees in Bauan Technical High School.
