Danao calls out Talisay vice mayor for doubting Phivolcs

Danao issued the stern warning, bordering on a death threat, after Natanauan on Monday rejected the findings of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), which became the basis of the government to disallow residents to return to their homes within the declared danger zone. “Why did he (Phivolcs) say that? Is he God?  Even God doesn’t know when a volcano will erupt,” Natanauan said in the vernacular as he was quoted over radio DZMM. The comment from the vice mayor of Talisay has drawn varying reactions from netizens, but most of  them expressing concern for the safety of those who would actually heed the call of the said local official. Natanauan said that because they are from the area, they are the ones most knowledgeable about the tendencies of Taal Volcano. Phivolcs in reaction to the local official’s comment stood by their findings on Taal’s volcanic activities but understood the sentiments of Natanuan.
