Construction workers, painter arrested for possession of drugs, firearm in Las Piñas

Members of the Las Piñas police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) conducted a buy-bust operation that led to the arrest of two construction workers and a painter on Tuesday, March 28.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said the arrested suspects were identified as Ranny Singcoy, 36; Jayson dela Cruz, 31; both construction workers, and Mauricio Mangubat, 42, a painter.

 The suspects were arrested at around 5:30 a.m. along Wonderland Site, Barangay Talon, Las Piñas.

Col. Jaime Santos, city police chief, said members of  SDEU conducted the buy-bust operation for the arrest of Singcoy after receiving complaints about his illegal activities.

Santos said the SDEU operatives were able to confiscate from the suspects 4.8 grams of shabu worth P32,640; one .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunitions; one black coin purse, and one P500 bill used as the buy-bust money.

The suspects were brought and detained at the police custodial facility following their arrest.

The police filed charges against the suspects for violations of RA 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions).Â
