But Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez said the issuance of voter certifications is only suspended in their main office in Intramuros, Manila.
"To reduce the risk of #COVID19 transmission, the issuance of voter certifications at the @COMELEC main office (in @Intramuros only) is suspended until 20 March 2020," he said in his Twitter account @jabjimenez.
"@COMELEC field offices will continue providing this service, subject to appropriate precautionary measures," added Jimenez.
Last week, the Comelec also announced the suspension of the voter registration due to the growing threat to public health posed by the disease.
Jimenez said the voter registration will be suspended from March 10 until March 31.
"The public is advised to take all necessary precaution to limit their exposure to the possibility of COVID-19 infection," he said.
Voter registration resumed last January 20 and will run until September 30, 2021.
