The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Monday that the main office in Intramuros, offices of the Regional Election Director of the NCR, Region IV-A, and Region IV-B are closed from Aug. 3 to 16 for extensive disinfection and decontamination.

In an advisory, the Comelec said the issuance of local and overseas voters’ certificates by the Election Records and Statistics Department (ERSD) and Office for Overseas Voting (OFOV) in the main office are temporarily suspended.
It added that the Comelec officers and employees will continue to perform their duty on a work-from-home arrangement.
Last month, the Comelec said there will be no issuance of voter's certification every Friday.
The Comelec said their main office in Intramuros, Manila as well as their field offices will be closed to the public every Friday, starting July 3, for regular disinfection and decontamination.
Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said their buildings, facilities and office vehicles must undergo proper disinfection and decontamination to "ensure the safety of our personnel and the public we serve" amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
It was last June 15 when the Comelec resumed the issuance of voter's certification.
The commission said for public’s queries and concerns they can reach them through email at [email protected]. (With a report from Leslie Ann Aquino)
