San Pablo Bishop Buenaventura Famadico, chairman of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on the Clergy, has appealed to the faithful “to pray for all the members of the clergy around the world, for Filipino priests in particular, as they face the challenge of practicing their vocation amid the pandemic.

“Pray for all the priests so that they may continue with their mission to spread the Word of God despite the limitations brought about by the pandemic,” Famadico said over Church-run Radio Veritas as the Catholic Church observes the feast of Saint John Vianney, the patron of priests, today, August 4.
Famadico said he is optimistic that the Church will continue to be able to serve the spiritual needs of the faithful as well as assist the poor, particularly those who lost their livelihood at this time of crisis.
“I pray that the faithful continue to feel the love and presence of the Lord in the face of crisis through their priests,” the bishop added.
Famadico urged the faithful to continue to pray for the more than 400,000 priests around the world, about 2 percent of which or more than 10,000 priests are serving in the country’s 86 archdioceses and dioceses.
