Checkpoints intensify as Bulacan reverts to MECQ

CAMP GENERAL ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan--The Philippine National Police in Bulacan set up more control points in barangays and main thoroughfares on Tuesday (Aug. 4) as the National Capital Region (NCR) and its adjacent provinces, including Bulacan, were reverted to modified community quarantine (MECQ) at midnight.

Bulacan police director Col. Lawrence B. Cajipe said a total of 346 police officers were deployed to man the 41 control points for city/municipality boundaries, 18 control points for provincial boundaries (Bulacan-Manila and Bulacan-Pampanga), and 12 control points for the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) exit.

All checkpoints and police visibility have been intensified province-wide as part of government's response to the appeal of health frontliners for a "timeout."

Strict implementation of MECQ guidelines will be instituted Bulacan-wide. Only those who are providing basic services, daily essentials, essential goods, utilities, and other authorized personnel are allowed to enter and exit the boundaries of each city and municipality in the province. Appropriate action will be taken on those who do not comply.

"Bulacan PNP is doing its job in the best way possible to ensure Bulakenyos' health and safety. Your support and cooperation will be of great contribution in support of our medical frontliners as we take stringent actions to contain the COVID-19," Cajipe said.
