The Camiguin Health Office said on Monday there is no case of novel Coronavirus (nCov) in the province.
The local health office said the person suspected of having been infected has been found negative and is recovering from the symptoms.
“This is to inform the public that there is no case of the Novel Corona Virus in the Island Province of Camiguin. The person suspected of having been infected has been found NEGATIVE and is recovering from his symptoms,” the provincial health office of the Camiguin said in a statement.
The local government announced that strict governance assured the public that monitoring of the person will be done along with his travelling companions and other tourists.
Eleven foreign nationals in the Philippines are under investigation after showing symptoms of the deadly 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
The Philippine Department of Health (DOH) revealed this on Monday as the death toll from China's viral epidemic spiked to 81 dead with hundreds of new infections despite unprecedented quarantines and travel lockdowns – with foreign governments scrambling to help their trapped citizens.
In a press briefing in Malacañang, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said the 11 patients under investigation (PUIs) were Chinese nationals, Americans, Germans, and Brazilians.
He said three of the foreigners were in Western Visayas, three in Central Visayas, two in Metro Manila, one each in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), Eastern Visayas, and Northern Mindanao.
More than 2,000 people globally have been infected with a new coronavirus, the vast majority of them in China, where 81 people have died from the disease, according to figures released on Sunday. (With reports from Argyll Geducos and Agence France-Presse)
