A family of four Brazilians are now under isolation in a Palawan hospital after one of them showed symptoms of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) while on vacation in the Philippines.
A police source from the Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) regional police said the daughter of the Brazilian couple showed three of the four symptoms of the 2019-nCoV.
"Only one of them manifested symptoms, but all of them were subjected to isolation for precautionary measures," the source said, quoting details provided by the Palawan Provincial Police Office.
The details reportedly came from the Department of Health.
The young Brazilian is reportedly suffering from respiratory problems and fever.
The family recently visited Wuhan, China where the virus is believed to have originated.
No other details were provided, such as when they arrived in the country.
The Brazilian family will be isolated for 12 days and will only be released from hospital if the symptoms are gone and they test negative on medical tests.
But so far, only the daughter of the Brazilian couple will likely be subjected to confirmatory tests.
If the confirmatory test pushes through, police said it will be conducted by personnel from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
