BI waives aliens' overstaying fee

Hence we are exempting tourists whose flights were canceled from paying overstaying fee," said BI Commissioner Jaime Morente. Port operations chief Grifton Medina clarified the fine exemption is limited only to those who overstayed because their scheduled flights were canceled during the two-day closure of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. He added that to be exempted from the charges, aliens must present boarding pass within the affected period, outbound ticket dated January 12 or 13 2020, or canceled immigration departure stamp bearing the same date. He pointed out that those with expired visas are not exempt from penalties.
