The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has started implementing the partial lifting of the travel restriction to South Korea.
Bureau of Immigration (MANILA BULLETIN)
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said the lifting was in compliance with recommendation the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
The task force said Filipino travelers may go to South Korea except in North Gyeongsang Province, Daegu, and Cheongdo.
"Filipino tourists are now allowed to travel to Korea, except to the areas of concern, provided they execute a declaration over the health risks of the trip due to Covid-2019 outbreak," Morente said
He also said that dependents of Filipinos who are permanent resident visa holders in South Korea, Hong Kong, and Macau "shall be allowed to travel to said areas."
"This will ensure that families will remain together during the corona virus epidemic," Morente said.
He said, however, that the travel ban in China remains in full effect.
Morente again appealed to the public to bear with the travel ban policy.
"This is the best course of action that the IATF-EID sees best to prevent the further spread of the disease, and we are duty-bound to implement it for the protection of all," he added.
