Batangas placed under state of calamity

Leviste said the declaration would allow the local government to tap emergency funds which can be used to assist residents affected by the volcano’s unrest. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Alert Level 4 remains hoisted over Taal Volcano, Monday, warning about a possible hazardous explosive eruption within hours or days. Residents within the 14-kilometer radius of the volcano were already advised to evacuate due to the “high risk to pyroclastic density currents and volcanic tsunami.”
