BATANES – As precautionary measures against the threat posed by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the province, the municipal council of Basco in Batanes adopted a resolution Wednesday, imposing travel restrictions for locals and tourists coming from the mainland Luzon.
Under this resolution that was motioned by Councilor Marvin T. Costales, the travel ban will run from March 16 until April 16, subject to extension if necessary.
As such, all persons coming from mainland Luzon will not be allowed to enter Batanes, through the Basco airport or any of the marine entry points in the province.
Local residents will still be allowed to return to the province but they will be subjected to home quarantine within 14 days, or facility-based isolation, depending on the evaluation of health authorities upon entry.
