By Ali Macabalang COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) marked the first year anniversary on Tuesday of the BARMM’s enabling plebiscite by sending P2-million worth of relief packages to victims of the Taal volcano eruption. (Photo via Ali Macabalang / MANILA BULLETIN) BARMM Chief Minister Ahod “Hadji Murad” Ebrahim said their anniversary commemoration would be “more meaningful” in demonstrating “love for humanity,” especially for people in distress. “Humanitarianism recognizes no jurisdictional border. Let us share part of our resources with fellow Filipinos facing adversities spawned by the eruption of Taal volcano,” Ebrahim said. Ebrahim sent off the relief mission alongside dozens of trained workers of the Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READI) program under the BARMM’s Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG). The relief team was accompanied by volunteer Bangsamoro professionals who had undergone a series of Incident Command System (ICS) and could effectively assist volcano eruption-affected people, according to lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, BARMM spokesman and MILG minister. Sinarimbo said the dispatch of the READI team to assist victims in the volcano eruption areas in Luzon “marks the first anniversary of the plebiscite for the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (R.A. 11054).” READI program workers said their relief team-caravan will proceed to the Incident Command Post established in Batangas for coordination of relief goods distribution among victims of the Taal volcano eruption. They said their team ferried P2-million worth of relief packages including drinking water containers, food, and other basic necessities.
