Azurin cites PRO-8 for intercepting P7-M shabu

PALO, Leyte – Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. lauded the Police Regional Office-8 (Eastern Visayas) for intercepting a stolen vehicle and suspected shabu worth P7 million in Allen, Northern Samar on Tuesday, March 28.

"We have seen the synergy, partnership, and collaboration of our police here. This is not the first time. The interception of a shipment of illegal drugs has happened in the past months and this is a very nice intelligence operation with combined PNP operatives," Azurin said.

Three men, Jabbar Angni Azis, 29, driver, resident of Munai, Lanao del Norte; Aminollah Moti Mohammad, 43, of Pantao Ragat, Lanao del Norte; and Amenodeh Agul Mamao, 32, of Santiago City, Isabela were arrested in a checkpoint by the Task Force Maharlika.

Their vehicle was flagged down by the Highway Patrol Unit in Barangay Jubasan around 3 a.m. after the car matched the description of a car stolen in Tarlac and its GPS location.

Azurin cited the trust, dedication, commitment, and excellence displayed by the men and women of PRO-8 which contributed to the success of the anti-crime campaign.

“With the experience of (PRO-8 Director) Brig. Gen. (Rommel Francisco) Marbil, he led his personnel to gain positivity on our campaign against all forms of criminality, illegal drugs, and terrorism in the region, and displayed vast logistical accomplishments," he noted.

Azurin led the culminating activity for the 2023 National Women’s Month celebration and awarded the Top 10 most outstanding policewomen of PRO-8.

He also turned over vehicles and other equipment in his first command visit to the PRO-8.
