The House of Representatives confirmed on Tuesday that another employee of its Printing Service has tested positive for the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Secretary General Jose Luis Montales made the confirmation two days after the death of another Printing Service worker, a 41-year-old male.
The second confirmed COVID 19 case from the Batasan Complex is also a male person. He last reported for work March 5 and was admitted in an undisclosed hospital two days later.
Initial diagnosis was dengue but tests made on March 12 and 14 indicated that he had been infected with COVID-19.
“The doctors later tested him for COVID-19 on March 12 and 14, and the results just came out today,” said Montales.
The mother and the sister-in-law of the first victim who also reportedly work in the Lower House have been tested for COVID-19. The two women are in the staff of the Committee Affairs Department of the chamber.
“Our prayers will come a long way for him. Let us keep praying for his recovery and for his family’s health,” said Montales.
The House official said rotational skeletal work force and work from home arrangements are now being implemented in the chamber.
